What to expect?
If you have never joined a local anime club meetup before, you might be wondering what to expect when diving into the community. One of the best parts about the Southern California anime scene is how accessible it is: all of the clubs listed here are completely free to join unless explicitly stated otherwise.
However, please keep in mind that some clubs do place a cap on how many new members they can accept at a single time. If a club’s registration is temporarily closed, you may have to wait for the next open enrollment window. Please be patient with the organizers during these times! This limit isn’t meant to be exclusionary; rather, it is a practical measure because running a massive digital and physical community is incredibly difficult for small, independent management teams.
Above all, these spaces are fully inclusive to everyone from all walks of life. All that is asked of you is to bring good energy, mutual respect, and a shared passion for the community when you join!
Online meetups usually happen on platforms like Discord, featuring watch parties, seasonal anime discussions, and gaming nights. For these clubs they all mainly use discord for planning. It is highly encouraged for you to have a appriopate user name and profile picture!
In-person meetups are a mix of casual hangouts and structured events. You’ll often find groups meeting up at local boba shops,anime events, or at a local park. These are usually completely casual, welcoming environment designed purely for making new friends who share your passion for anime, manga, and gaming.
Warning!!! Do not enter these clubs hoping to find a romantic partner! One of the biggest rules all these clubs have is to treat members as purely platonic. Unrequited energy could be met with getting banned from the club!
